PRESS RELEASE. Ottawa, Ontario; April 12, 2012.

LAND AWAKENING NEW SCREENING
Volunteering at organic farms in the Mediterranean, Ottawa filmmaker embarks on a journey that will bring him to a life transformation.

Documentary “Land Awakening” Screens again in Wakefield, Quebec.

Last March 29 “Land Awakening” had its Ottawa Premier in front of a packed Auditorium at the Ottawa Public Library, with people standing and sitting on the aisles. For days after the spontaneous and honest feed-back was encouraging;

“the film blew me away…so positive, so inspiring, change is not only necessary but clearly possible”

“… this piece was a definite eye-opener for me and I thank you for that. There are so many people that will benefit from seeing it…”

“…ton film m’a vraiment touché. Aujourd’hui j’ai débuté à travailler dans notre potager que je partage avec une autre famille chez eux. Ton film m’a directement inspiré à agrandir le potager et à faire un mini chez moi. Merci.”

“…the force to inspire is still intact… it was like a spring that made them jump and ask ‘what can I do?’… thank you for that inspiration. You are sowing -like the protagonists-, you made a seed-ball and, man you are sowing!”

A friend of mine in the audience was so motivated by the film and asked me to organize a screening at his home in Chelsea with neighbors and friends. The idea picked up like fire and thanks to another enthusiast Wakefield resident, it grew into getting the Black Sheep in Wakefield as the next venue.

In the film paradigms like ‘Agriculture’, ‘tilling the soil’, ‘Supermarkets’ and even the term ‘weeds’, are questioned.

Inspired by his son’s voyage volunteering at organic farms in Spain, Mexican- Canadian filmmaker Raul Alvarez embarks on his own Mediterranean journey that will bring him a life transformation. Triggered by his encounters with unique characters questioning paradigms, new approaches to food production are revealed, making his journey intriguing and fascinating.”
